Job Description

The Youth Pastor will be responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and formation of students (7th – 12th grade). He must have a clear, passionate calling to leading students to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and discipling students to grow in their faith which matches the overall mission and vision statement, the core values, and ministry strategy of Highland Baptist Church. The Youth Pastor will work in cooperation with the Senior Pastor, fellow ministerial staff, other leaders and volunteers in ministering to the student’s family as Highland Baptist Church strives to reach new families, build stronger families, improve parent-child relationships and integrating the whole family into the ministry of Highland Baptist Church. He must be an equipper, building a ministry team to best train and equip team leaders and volunteers. He needs to be able to relate to the students and help them in their spiritual development as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. He needs strong organizational skills to lead various ministry activities such as worship, Bible studies, retreats/camps, and mission projects.

Qualifications:

• He must be a born-again, fully committed disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. He must have a clear testimony to a saving, sanctifying and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
• He must possess a definite calling to youth ministry and have a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
• He needs to have a comprehensive understanding of student ministry and have the ability to research the community, utilizing demographics, technology and social media to reach youth.
• Strong theological understanding and giftedness in preaching/teaching.
• He must adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. He must have a sound Biblical theology.
• He must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in ministry studies or a willingness to pursue such education.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
• He must have a strong work ethic and must be highly self-motivated. He must be able to perform his ministry responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• If married, his wife must be supportive and active in the ministry of Highland Baptist Church.
