Job Overview
As a Police Officer at the Port of Seattle, you will provide law enforcement services to Port-owned properties, with a primary focus on the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Port of Seattle maritime properties and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect crime.
Enforce laws, ordinances, and regulations.
Provide emergency services, detain or arrest individuals, issue citations, and conduct traffic control.
Investigate accidents and assist motorists and pedestrians.
Write reports and testify in court.
Engage with tenants, residents, businesses, and the community.
Use force when necessary, including potentially deadly force.
For Lateral Candidates:
Current law enforcement officers in Washington State should apply through the designated Lateral Officer process.
Who You Are
Eligibility Requirements:
At least 21 years of age.
U.S. Citizen, lawful Permanent Resident, or a DACA recipient with proficiency in English.
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Must have or be able to obtain a Washington State Driver's License before hire.

Additional Requirements
Background Review:
Must pass a background investigation, including a criminal records check, polygraph, medical exam, and psychological evaluation.
Background checks will include driving history, credit history, arrest records, military and educational records.
Successful applicants must complete state law enforcement training (Basic Law Enforcement Academy) and a Patrol Training Officer (PTO) process.
Disqualifications:

Driver's License:
A valid Washington State Driver's License is required before hire.
Work Schedule:
Fixed 12.5-hour shifts, with shift selections made annually by seniority. Shifts include day (5:00 AM - 5:30 PM) and night (5:00 PM - 5:30 AM). New hires typically start on weekend night shifts after training. Overtime may be required.
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor settings in various weather conditions. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and noise associated with aircraft and maritime vessels. Extended periods of walking and standing may be required.

Overtime eligibility.
Compliance with safety rules and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must pass a TSA background check and FBI criminal history check for Port of Seattle ID clearance.
