Working Conditions

• This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option, in accordance with CAL FIRE’s telework policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

• Local and Statewide travel may be required up to 15% of the time and may include overnight stays. 5% Emergency Duty Assignments as required.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment with shifting  priorities.

• Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to reach sound conclusions and  make recommendations.

• Strong customer service skills

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)

• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other Esri applications

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

• Experience working with government, fire departments, or public entities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field

1. Please discuss your education and work experience as it relates to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including any database management tools and processes that you have used. Describe specific projects and the tools and applications you used to process, analyze, and manage data as well as the resulting products.

2. Describe why you want to work at CAL FIRE within the Community Wildfire Preparedness & Mitigation Division as a GIS Data Analyst.
