Civil Design Technician / Designer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Design Technician to join our growing land development team. This role supports professional engineers in preparing construction documents, performing calculations, and assisting in all aspects of site design. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates strong technical proficiency, and has a passion for high-quality, efficient design work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Support engineers with drafting, design documentation, and a variety of technical calculations.
• Prepare Improvement Plans, including setup, drafting, and development for construction submittals.
• Perform computer-aided drafting (CAD) of layout, utility, and grading plans; develop profiles, general notes, and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Collaborate and coordinate effectively with project engineers, designers, and other team members.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates as part of the design process.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when priorities or project conditions change unexpectedly.
• Exhibit a clear sense of urgency, ownership, and initiative to meet deadlines.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or project managers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate degree or higher in Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in civil engineering land development or site design required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of civil engineering and land development concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret, and draft site plans and construction drawings accurately.
• Proven ability to manage workload efficiently, meet deadlines, and maintain a high standard of quality.
