• Hourly Range: $21.50 - $32.40 (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.)

Overview:

Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience.  Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern.  Locations will vary based on project needs and may include Houston, TX, Reston, VA, or various project sites.

Major Responsibilities:

Industrial/Systems Engineering interns work with multi-disciplinary engineers to provide support to the project’s systems engineering team throughout the lifecycle of the project (design through commissioning testing).

Industrial/Systems Engineering interns may be responsible for:

• Assisting in developing functional/system analysis to define facility/system design requirements.
• Assisting in establishing the means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.
• Assisting in the preparation of system and facility design criteria documents.
• Supporting system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow down and traceability.
• Assisting in the preparation of assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design.
• Participating in technical discussions to resolve system design issues.
• Researching and documenting system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers.
• Performing model-based systems engineering using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) automation tools (e.g., IBM® Rationale Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) or Innoslate by Spec Innovations).

Education and Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields.

• Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
